Paul Samwell-Smith (Paul Smith, né le 8 mai 1943, dans Richmond, Surrey) est un membre fondateur et bassiste du groupe anglais des années 60, The Yardbirds.
Avec les Yardbirds, il a collaboré avec les producteurs Mickie Most, Simon Napier-Bell and Giorgio Gomelsky et co-produit et enregistré la plupart de leurs chansons. Il quitte les Yardbirds pour une carrière de producteur.
Il a connu la réussite avec Renaissance, Murray Head, Cat Stevens, Jethro Tull, Carly Simon, Chris De Burgh, Beverley Craven, Illusion and Claire Hamill aussi bien qu'en produisant deux des albums de Amazing Blondel et les premiers albums de All About Eve.
Samwell-Smith a été élu à la Rock and Roll Hall of Fame comme membre des Yardbirds en 1992.
