Pachtou
Le pachtou, pachto ou pashto (nom local : پښتو / paṣto et paxto, selon les dialectes) est une langue appartenant au sous-groupe iranien (branche orientale) du groupe indo-iranien de la famille des langues indo-européennes. Il est parlé en Afghanistan (dont il est l'une des deux langues officielle, avec le dari), ainsi qu'au Pakistan, où il compte environ 45 millions de locuteurs. Les locuteurs du pachtou sont appelés les Pachtounes.
Cette langue s'écrit au moyen d'un alphabet arabe modifié. Le pachtou est composé de deux dialectes principaux, celui de Kandahar et celui de Paktiyâ (ou de Peshawar). C'est aussi la langue administrative et diplomatique de l'Afghanistan.
