Le paluan (parfois palau, palaoan ou paloasien, en anglais palauan) est une langue austronésienne parlée aux Palaos dont elle est une des langues officielles.
Le paluan constitue à lui seul un rameau de la branche malayo-polynésienne des langues austronésiennes. Il ne fait donc pas partie des langues océaniennes, et est une des deux seules langues dans ce cas en Océanie (en dehors des divers créoles et des langues européennes importées depuis le passage de Magellan dans la région).
Les linguistes considèrent que le paluan fait plutôt partie des langues malayo-polynésiennes occidentales, au même titre que les langues des Philippines et d'Indonésie occidentale.
Ses particularités ont suscité l'intérêt de divers linguistes[1].
Le paluan a environ 20 000 locuteurs.
