Michael Foot (né le 23 juillet 1913 à Plymouth et mort le 3 mars 2010) était un homme politique britannique.
Michael Foot est un polémiste, orateur, pacifiste (Campagne pour le désarmement nucléaire - CND), député travailliste de gauche proche (avec Harold Wilson) d'Aneurin Bevan dont il a écrit une biographie, ministre, leader malheureux du Parti travailliste de 1980 à 1983 (leader de l'opposition parlementaire de gauche sous Margaret Thatcher). Considéré comme le dernier représentant des archéo-travaillistes (Old Labour) par les « blairistes » modernisateurs.
Il appartient à une famille politique remarquable: son père Isaac était un député du Parti Libéral, un de ses frères (John) était membre de la Chambre des Lords, un autre (Hugh - Lord Caradon) diplomate et ambassadeur de la Grande-Bretagne, un troisième (Dingle) ministre de la justice travailliste. Son neveu Paul Foot (fils de Hugh) était journaliste d'investigation, chroniqueur et dirigeant trotskiste (Socialist Workers Party).
En 2009, âgé de 96 ans, Michael Foot était un fervent supporter du modeste club de football Plymouth Argyle et a battu le record de longévité pour un ancien leader du parti travailliste. Il décède le 3 mars 2010[1].
