Anthem of the Sun (« Hymne du soleil ») est le deuxième album studio des Grateful Dead, sorti en 1968.

Il s'agit d'un album non-conventionnel, où le groupe a cherché à mêler des enregistrements studio et les enregistrements de concert[1]. Dans cet album, les Grateful Dead ont voulu recréer une ambiance musicale qui incarne les voyages intérieurs induits par la prise de LSD. C'est un album que l'on peut classer dans l'acid rock.

C'est le premier album où apparaît leur second batteur Mickey Hart. Bien que n'étant pas membre de Grateful Dead, Tom Constanten, un ami de Phil Lesh[1] a joué du piano sur l'album Anthem of the Sun. Il rejoint officiellement le groupe en novembre 1968, en complément de l'organiste Ron "Pigpen" McKernan .

En 2003, l'album était 287e sur la liste du magazine Rolling Stone des 500 plus grands albums de tous les temps.
