Le dronabinol est le nom du THC (ou delta-9-tétrahydrocannabinol) synthétique, il est commercialisé sous le nom de Marinol®.
Sa demi-vie est de 19 heures et son élimination se fait par voies rénale et fécale.
Il est principalement prescrit contre les vomissements et les nausées pour les patients de chimiothérapie, même si son administration par voie orale peut poser des problèmes.
Mais il est aussi precrit afin d'augmenter l'appétit des malades du SIDA.
Il n'est commercialisé ni en France, ni en Belgique, ni en Suisse.
