Margot Kidder, de son vrai nom Margaret Ruth Kidder, est une actrice et productrice canado-américaine née le 17 octobre 1948 à Yellowknife au Canada, connue pour avoir incarnée Lois Lane dans les films de Superman (1978-1987) avec Christopher Reeve.

Biographie

Son rôle le plus connu est celui de Loïs Lane, journaliste au Daily Planet amoureuse de Superman dans le film éponyme en 1978. Elle reprendra son rôle dans sa suite en 1980, dans Superman III en 1983 et dans Superman IV en 1987.

Elle eut un grave accident de voiture en 1990 qui l'éloigna des plateaux de cinéma durant deux ans. Ce qui l'entraina dans une situation financière délicate.

Souffrant d'un trouble bipolaire, elle est retrouvée par la police en 1996 parmi des sans domicile fixe et envoyée dans une clinique psychiatrique. Mais, en 2007, elle déclare qu'elle n'a pas eu d'épisodes dépressifs depuis onze ans grâce à la médecine naturelle [réf. nécessaire].

Elle apparait en 2005 dans quelques épisodes de la saison 4 de Smallville, série télévisée relatant la jeunesse de Superman, elle y joue l'assistante de Dr. Swan, lui-même interprété par Christopher Reeve.
