Luton (prononcée [britannique qui dépendait autrefois du Bedfordshire (Angleterre), mais qui constitue depuis 1997 une entité administrative distincte. Sa population est estimée à 184 000 habitants[1], avec environ 230 000 dans l'agglomération, dont les autres villes principales sont Dunstable et Houghton Regis.
Luton comprend un aéroport, l'aéroport de Londres Luton, et un centre universitaire, l'Université de Bedfordshire. Entre 1905 et 2002, Luton abritait les usines du constructeur automobile Vauxhall.
On peut aussi visiter le manoir de Luton Hoo.
Sport
La ville héberge le Luton Town Football Club, club de football qui joue au stade de Kenilworth Road. L'équipe a notamment remporté la League Cup en 1988 face à Arsenal.
Jumelage
Luton est un des principaux lieux de l'action dans les tomes deux et huit de Cherub (ainsi que les séries-télé Trafic et Mad Dogs).
