Life of Pi
Life of Pi est un film d'aventures américain réalisé par Ang Lee et adapté du best-seller l’Histoire de Pi de Yann Martel (récompensé du Man Booker Prize en 2002). Sa sortie est prévue en 2011.
Synopsis
Piscine Molitor Patel, surnommé Pi, est le fils du directeur du zoo de Pondichéry. Suite à des remous politiques qui agitent l'Inde, Mr Patel décide de quitter le pays pour le Canada. La famille embarque sur un cargo en compagnie de quelques grands mammifères pour une traversée de l'océan. Le navire fait naufrage, et Pi se retrouve seul sur un radeau en compagnie d'un tigre du Bengale, d'un orang-outan, d'un zèbre et d'une hyène.
Anecdotes
Life of Pi, initialement prévu en 2008, a été maintes fois reporté. Projet cinématographique auquel s'étaient à l'origine intéressés M. Night Shyamalan et Alfonso Cuaron, il devait finalement être réalisé par Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Le réalisateur français avait travaillé sur l'écriture du film avec le scénariste d'Un long dimanche de fiançailles Guillaume Laurant, disposait d'un story board complet et avait déjà effectué les repérages des lieux de tournage, notamment en Inde. Cependant, la production n'a pu débuter pour contraintes budgétaires. Pour cette raison, Jean-Pierre Jeunet a mis ce projet en stand-by et est revenu vers la France tourner Micmacs à Tire-Larigot.
