John Carbutt

John Carbutt innova en matière de photographie accompagné de son maître George Eastman.

En 1855, Alexander Parkes invente la feuille de Celluloïd. Il faudra attendre 1887 pour que John Carbutt et son maître, George Eastman, les commercialise dans l'industrie de la photographie. Ils se mirent alors à construire des rouleaux minces qui étaient utilisables pour l'émulsion photographique. Cette innovation plut à Thomas Edison et son assistant qui en achetèrent pour leur Kinétoscope.
