Joel Gion (né en 1971) est un percussionniste rock américain issu du mouvement indépendant. Il est membre du groupe de Rock The Dilettantes basé à San Francisco. Il est aussi membre du groupe The Brian Jonestown Massacre, où il joue du tambourin et où il fait occasionnellement du backing vocals. Il apparaît dans le film-documentaire Dig! de 2004, ainsi que sur la pochette du DVD de ce film-documentaire. Une photo de lui plus jeune fait aussi la couverture de la pochette de l'album de The Brian Jonestown Massacre Thank God For Mental Illness (Remercie Dieu pour être un malade mental). Après Anton Newcombe, il apparaît comme le membre le plus important du groupe The Brian Jonestown Massacre, car c'est lui qui y est resté le plus longtemps, après le leader Anton Newcombe.
Il ne joue plus que partiellement avec le The Brian Jonestown Massacre, c'est pour cela qu'il n'a pas fait toute la dernière tournée (2006) avec ce groupe, et n'a pu le rejoindre que pour les concerts de Rennes[1], Rouen et Tourcoing. Outre le tambourin, il joue notamment des maracas, et, d'après lui, contribue beaucoup aux idées d'écritures des morceaux du groupe.
