Jermaine Jackson

Jermaine LaJaune Jackson, né le 11 décembre 1954 à Gary, près de Chicago dans l'Indiana, est un chanteur de R&B américain, fils de Joseph Jackson, frère de Michael, Janet, Marlon, Randy, Rebbie, Latoya, Jackie et Tito Jackson.

Biographie

Jeunesse

Jermaine est né à Gary dans l'Indiana aux États-Unis. Il est le quatrième fils de Joseph et Katherine Jackson, venant après son frère Tito.

Il fut témoin de Jéhovah suivant les croyances de sa mère, fervente croyante. Jermaine Jackson s'est converti à l'islam en 1992, son nom musulman est Mouhammad Abdu al Aziz.

Carrière artistique

Jermaine Jackson était le chanteur des Jackson Brothers, groupe précurseur des Jackson Five, jusqu'en 1968. Membre des Jackson Five dès le début, il est le second chanteur du groupe (après son frère Michael), ainsi que le bassiste du groupe. Sa voix est particulièrement notable sur les hits I Want You Back, I'll Be There, , The Love You Save Dancing Machine, I Am Love.

Lors du départ des Jackson Five de la maison de disques Motown en 1976, Jermaine reste fidèle à Berry Gordy (car marié à sa fille Hazel) et ne continue pas l'aventure du groupe renommé The Jacksons. Il sera remplacé dans le groupe par le cadet des fils Jackson, Randy.

À la fin des années 1970, il entame une carrière solo. En 1979, il fut nommé aux Grammy Awards comme meilleur performance masculine de R&B et eut quelques succès dans les années 1980, notamment avec When The Rain Begins To Fall, son duo avec la chanteuse Pia Zadora, Dynamite et Do What You Do.

En 1991, il enregistra You said, un album New Jack, produit par Babyface, avec comme titres marquants : You Said et Word to the Badd.

Vie privée

Le 15 décembre 1973, Jermaine Jackson épouse (malgré la réticence de son père) Hazel Gordy, la fille de Berry Gordy, avec qui il a eu trois enfants : Jermaine Lu Juane Jackson, Jr. (1977), Autumn Joy Jackson (1978), Jaimy Jackson (1987). Durant son mariage avec Hazel il a entretenu une liaison avec Margaret Maldonado qui devient sa seconde femme et avec qui il a deux enfants : Jeremy Jackson (1986) et Jourdynn Jackson (1989). Il se sépare de Margaret en 1995.

En troisièmes noces, il épouse Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza, qui est aussi la mère de deux des enfants de son frère Randy Jackson. Jermaine a 2 enfants avec elle : Jaafar Jackson (1996) et Jermajesty Jackson (2000). En novembre 2004, ils divorcent.

En 2004, Jermaine épouse Halima Rashid avec qui il est toujours en couple.

Le 25 juin 2009, Jermaine perd son frère Michael Jackson, et se donne pour mission de "garder sa mémoire en vie", ce qui lui vaut d'être la cible des médias, en effet on l'accuse lui et toute la famille Jackson de profiter de la mort de Michael^{[réf. souhaitée]}.

Participations à des émissions de télévision

En janvier 2007, il participa à l'émission de télé-réalité Celebrity Big Brother 2007 (UK), au côté de Jade Goody, Ken Russel, Leo Sayer et la gagnante Shilpa Shetty.

Jermaine fut, par ailleurs, l'une des vedettes de Gone country season 2 aux États-Unis durant l'été 2008. En mai 2010, il participe en Hollande à l'émission "Dance Like Michael Jackson". Selon 'Morandini!', il devrait participer à la finale pour annoncer le nom des gagnants de l'émission télé-crochet A la Recherche Du Nouveau Michael Jackson, diffusée sur W9. Et effectivement le 23 novembre 2010 il participe à l'émission "A la recherche du nouveau Michael Jackson" sur W9. voir le site Alon remporte le jeu sous les yeux du frère de Michael Jackson ému. Le 22 Janvier, il remet un prix au NRJ Music Awards 2011 à Cannes à Jenifer.
