James Johnson est un personnage de jeu vidéo dans la série Metal Gear. Il fait son apparition dans Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.


James Johnson est le 44e président des États-Unis. Il était vice-Président durant le mandant de George Sears (Solidus Snake) et fut nommé Président par les Patriotes après que George Sears soit forcé à renoncer à la présidence.

Opposé aux Patriotes, Johnson accepte de collaborer avec Solidus Snake. Lorsque Solidus et ses hommes prennent la Big Shell d'assault, Johnson accepte d'utiliser la mallette nucléaire pour faire exploser une ogive nucléaire dans l'atmosphère de Manhattan, afin de se faire écrouler l'économie du pays.

Néanmoins, Johnson change d'avi quand il apprend que l'objectif de Solidus est d'éliminer les Patriotes. En effet, Johnson ne voulait pas les détruire mais en faire partie, car il pense que leur disparition serait une catastrophe pour le pays, laissant une « béance politique ».

Il apprend à Raiden l'existence des Patriotes et de l'Arsenal Gear avant de lui demander de le tuer pour empêcher qu'il ne puisse confirmer le lancement d'un missile.

C'est finalement Ocelot, travaillant pour les Patriotes, qui tuera Johnson.
