Ishmael est un roman écrit par l'auteur américain Daniel Quinn qui parut pour la première fois en 1992 en langue anglaise et en 1997 en langue française. Il s'agit d'un conte philosophique qui interroge la mythologie, ses effets sur la morale humaine, et de quelle façon cela affecte la durabilité de l'espèce humaine.
Ce livre est le premier d'une trilogie formé par les suites The Story of B (jamais édité en français) et Professeur cherche élève ayant désir de sauver le monde (My Ishmael en version originale). Cette trilogie inspira[1] le film Instinct, sorti en 1999.
