Gene Summers est un American rock and roll / rockabilly pioneer du Texas. Il est né à Dallas le 3 janvier 1939. Une figure mythique qui a joué un rôle clé dans le développement précoce de rockabilly musique et est l'un des premiers à utiliser le nom des rebelles sur ses enregistrements. Summers a célébré son 50e anniversaire en tant que artiste en 2008 avec la sortie d'un nouvel album studio, "Reminisce Café" et est toujours en tournée en Europe, et en England et Scandinavia sur une base régulière.

Certains de ses enregistrements les plus célèbres School Of Rock 'n Roll, Straight Skirt, Nervous, Twixteen, Gotta Lotta That, Alabama Shake et Fancy Dan. En 2006, School Of Rock 'n Roll a été sélectionné par Bob Solly et Record Collector Magazine comme l'un des «100 Greatest Rock' n 'Roll Records. Solly a écrit: Si vous ne sont autorisés que uno rock 'n roll enregistrer sur votre île déserted ce serait celle de prendre. School Of Rock 'n Roll a également été présenté par Bob Dylan sur son émission de radio par satellite Theme Time Radio Hour, et il est également présent dans la série télévisée britannique "You've Been Framed". Gene's 1964 rockabilly classique "Alabama agiter était également sur la télévision suédoise série "100 höjdare". En 1964 Summers libéré son plus gros vente record intitulé "Big Blue Diamonds" sur Jamie les enregistrements.

Depuis 1980, Summers a sillonné la France de nombreuses fois et est apparu en 1981 sur le programme de télévision Le Grand Echiquier avec la co-star Jacques Dutronc. Aussi, en 1981, Gene Summers a été l'une des vedettes du 1er Festival International de Rockabilly-Rock 'n Roll qui a également présenté Jack Scott, Sonny Fisher, Memphis Rockabilly Band, Billy Hancock, Tex Rubinowitz, Dave Travis, Victor Leed, Alligators, Crazy Cavan, Freddie Fingers Lee et Jezebel Rock.
