Galashiels est une petite ville écossaise située dans la région des Borders. Elle est la deuxième ville de cette région avec environ 14 000 habitants. Elle est connue pour son club de rugby à XV professionnel : Border Reivers Reivers qui joue dans la Celtic League de 2001 à 2007 avant d'être dissous pour raisons financières.
On peut trouver dans le centre ville qui s'articule le long de Channel Street tous les commerces nécessaires (poste, banques, magasins en tous genres, etc.) Il y a également un cinéma et trois supermarchés (ASDA, Tesco et Somerfield), ainsi que deux boites de nuit (le Move et l'Indigo) et de nombreux bars-restaurants. On y trouve aussi une piscine, un campus de l'université Heriot Watt, et une station du bus reliant Galashiels à Édimbourg et au reste des borders (Hawick, Carlisle, etc.)
