Eric Foner (7 février 1943, New York) est un professeur d'histoire à l'université Columbia, spécialiste de la période de la Reconstruction après la guerre de Sécession. Il a présidé l' Organization of American Historians en 1993-1994 et l' American Historical Association en 2000. Foner est aussi membre du bureau éditorial de The Nation et de Past and Present et a reçu plusieurs prix.
Il a aidé Disney à ré-écrire le scénario de l'attraction Hall of Presidents.
Il est cité dans l'ouvrage du néoconservateur David Horowitz, The Professors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America (2006).
