Earcombert de Kent
Earcombert Ier ou Eorcenberht, roi de Kent, de 640 à sa mort le 14 juillet 664. Benjamin des fils d'Eadbald, il s'empare du trône au préjudice de son aîné Eormenred, ou bien règne conjointement avec lui. Selon Bède le Vénérable, il aurait fait détruire les temples et les idoles païens. Il épouse Sexburge, fille d'Anna d'Est-Anglie, qui lui donne deux fils, Ecgberht et Hlothhere, qui lui succèderont successivement, et deux filles, Eorcengota et Ermenilda, qui seront canonisées. Il promulgue une loi pour que le carême soit observé dans tout son royaume.
