Adolph Deutsch est un compositeur britannique né le 20 octobre 1897 à Londres (Royaume-Uni), décédé le 1^er janvier 1980 à Palm Desert (Californie).

Biographie

Adolph Deutsch était un compositeur, chef d'orchestre et arrangeur. Il gagna des Oscars pour sa musique complémentaire pour Oklahoma! (1955), et pour sa direction d'orchestre de "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" (1954) et "Annie Get Your Gun" (1950). Ce natif de Londres fut aussi nommé pour "The Band Wagon" (1953) et la version filmée de 1951 de "Show Boat" pour sa direction d'orchestre. Pour Broadway et Hollywood, il dirigea, composa et arrangea, mais n'écrivit pas de chansons, pas plus pour les shows de Broadway sur lesquels il travailla. En plus de sa musique pour des westerns et sa direction d'orchestre pour des films musicaux, Deutsch composa pour des films "noirs", incluant "The Mask of Dimitrios" (1944), "The Maltese Falcon" (1941) et "Nobody Lives Forever" (1946) et les comédies de Billy Wilder "The Apartment" (1960) et "Some Like It Hot" (1959). Deutsch commença sa carrière à Broadway dans les années 1920 et 1930 avant de travailler pour Hollywood à la fin des années 1930. Pour Broadway, il orchestra "As Thousands Cheer" de Irving Berlin et "Pardon My English" de George et Ira Gershwin.
