Demis Hassabis (né le 27 juillet 1976 au Royaume-Uni) est un développeur et concepteur de jeux vidéo. Il est reconnu pour ses talents de programmation d'intelligence artificielle mais aussi en tant que joueur de haut niveau. C'est un neuroscientifique.
À l'âge de 12 ans, c'est un génie des échecs, il a notamment été noté 2300 à l'ELO, le plus haut niveau pour un garçon de cet age dans le monde. Il a reçu son baccalauréat (A-levels) à 16 ans. Il a co-créé le studio de production Bullfrog Productions (Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper...), avec le fameux Peter Molyneux. Il a terminé ses études en 1997 au Queens' College de Cambridge avec un Double First en informatique[1].
En 1998, Hassabis a fondé un studio de développement, maintenant fermé, Elixir Studios à Londres. Il avait, à la tête d'un groupe de 60 employés, signé des accords de production avec Vivendi Universal et Microsoft et a été le concepteur exécutif de Republic: The Revolution et Evil Genius.
