La Circle Line (ligne circulaire) est une ligne du métro de Londres. Elle est parfois appelée « virtual line » (ligne virtuelle) car elle ne dispose d'aucune station propre, mais circule de façon exclusive sur deux sections : les raccordements entre High Street Kensington et Gloucester Road, et entre Tower Hill et Aldgate. Son code couleur est le jaune.

Cette ligne dispose de 27 stations représentant 22,5 kilomètres de voies. Elle relie entre elles la plupart des grandes gares londoniennes. Son contour englobe toute la partie nord de la zone tarifaire 1.

La Circle Line ne dispose pas de terminus, et les trains y roulent continuellement. Un tour complet de la ligne prend en principe 45 minutes, mais afin d'assurer des horaires stables les trains s'arrêtent 2 minutes à High Street Kensington et Aldgate, poussant la durée d'un tour complet à 49 minutes. Cela permet d'assurer la circulation de sept trains dans chaque direction, avec une fréquence de sept minutes.

Histoire

La Circle Line existe en tant que telle depuis 1949, date à laquelle elle a été séparée de la Metropolitan Line et de la District Line, mais est apparue sur les plans du métro dès 1947.

Matériel roulant

Tous les trains de la Circle Line sont des C69 stock et portent la livrée particulière de London Underground à base de rouge, blanc et bleu, et sont du gabarit le plus large des deux utilisés sur le réseau.
