Un canzone (signifiant littéralement « chanson » en italien) est une chanson provençale ou italienne.
Le terme désigne également une sorte de poème lyrique ressemblant au madrigal, ou, parfois, une composition simple ressemblant à une chanson, notamment s'il s'agit d'un compositeur non italien : un bon exemple serait l'aria Voi che sapete des Noces de Figaro de Mozart.
Enfin, le terme canzone peut être synonyme de canzona, une forme instrumentale italienne de la fin du XVIe siècle. Il s'agit d'un précurseur de la sonate.
