Elle est la fille de Phillip Harley Culkin, journaliste, et Marian Ethel Wagner, écrivain, et la tante des acteurs Macaulay Culkin et Kieran Culkin.
Elle apprend la danse classique et commence dès son plus jeune âge à apparaître comme actrice à la télévision.
Elle épouse notamment le scénariste Kenneth Luber et l'acteur Michael McRae.
