Wheaties est une marque de céréales de petit-déjeuner possédée par General Mills. Elle est connue pour afficher des photos de sportifs sur son emballage, devenant ainsi une icône de la culture populaire américaine. Wheaties a été commercialisée à partir de 1924[1].

Historique

Wheaties, créée en 1922, est le résultat d'un renversement accidentel de farine de blé dans un poêle chaud d'un chercheur de l'entreprise Washburn Crosby Company (devenu General Mills). Les céréales sont alors nommées "Washburn's Gold Medal Whole Wheat Flakes". Peu après, le nom est changé en Wheaties à la suite d'un concours interne remporté par la femme d'un manager de l'entreprise.
