Valentine Nicolaud dite Val, née à Bruxelles en 1870 et morte en 1943, est un peintre français de style post-impressionniste.
Biographie
Val est d'abord modèle d'Auguste Renoir, puis son élève. Elle devient la compagne de Charles Frey, familier de Renoir, vers 1891 et commence à peindre, après avoir suivi l'enseignement d'Eugène Carrière. Ses toiles représentant des natures mortes et des bouquets de fleurs sont particulièrement appréciées. Elle peint aussi des paysages et quelques portraits. Elle s'en sépare en 1911 pour épouser le peintre et illustrateur Tancrède Synave (1870-1936).
Elle tient un salon artistique et mondain chez elle à Paris, où elle reçoit parmi ses invités les artistes et intellectuels de son époque. Édouard Vuillard a peint plusieurs portraits de Valentine Val.
