The Origin of Love sera le prochain et troisième album du chanteur et auteur-compositeur britannique Mika. Il sortira en 2012 sous le label Casablanca Records et en France sous Barclay Records. Le premier single extrait de l'album est la chanson Elle me dit dont les paroles sont en français.
Développement
Mika a travaillé avec Greg Wells, qui a aussi produit ses deux premiers albums. L'album a été écrit aux Olympic Studios à Londres. En Mars 2011, il se déplaça aux Rocket Carousel Studios à Los Angeles, où l'album a été enregistré. Mika a décrit l'album comme un « genre de pop plus simple, mais avec moins d'autres influences que le dernier »[1]. Il a aussi décrit les thèmes de l'album comme un début vers l'âge adulte. Le chanteur a déclaré : « Il s'agit d'un album plus 'serieux', mais contenant toujours cette même fantaisie et ses mélodies joyeuses ». Le premier single issue de l'album est la chanson Elle me dit. Cette piste est la première piste que Mika a entièrement écrite en français. Il est sorti le 8 Juillet 2011. Le single s'est positionné à la 6e place des Classements iTunes Français. Le 9 juillet 2011, Mika donna un concert à Compiègne et a chanté, entre autres, quelques nouvelles chansons issues de cet album comme Karen (dont les paroles sont en français), Blame It on the Weather ainsi que le premier single, Elle me dit. En septembre 2011, il interpréta, lors d'un concert à Séoul, une nouvelle chanson intitulée Under Water.
