The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe est un épisode hors série qui sera diffusé le 25 décembre 2011 sur BBC One.
L'épisode aura pour acteurs principaux Claire Skinner, Bill Bailey, Arabella Weir et l'humoriste Alexander Armstrong.
L'histoire se déroule durant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale et raconte l'histoire d'une famille de refugiés forcés de quitter Londres par les bombardements, Madge Arwell et ses deux enfants, Lily et Cyril. Ils doivent se réfugier dans le Dorset, où ils rencontrent le Docteur qui se fait passer pour l'intendant d'un vieux manoir.
La BBC a annoncé que le tournage a commencé en septembre 2011 et devrait s'achever a la mi-octobre 2011. L'histoire s'inspire en partie de Le Lion, la Sorcière blanche et l'Armoire magique de C. S. Lewis.
