Paul Vallas, (né le 10 juin 1953 à Chicago), fut nommé par le Maire Richard Daley directeur du district scolaire des Chicago Public Schools de 1995 à 2001. En 2002, il échoue de peu à obtenir la nomination du Parti démocrate pour le poste de gouverneur.
Le 4 février 2009, il quitte le parti démocrate pour le parti républicain.
