Le massacre de la prison de Palmyre (en) (Syrie) s'est déroulé le 27 juin 1980, le lendemain d'une tentative (manquée) d'assassinat contre le président Hafez el-Assad. Des membres des unités des Brigades de défense, sous le commandement de Rifaat El Assad, frère du président, ont pénétré dans la prison de Palmyre (en) et assassiné un millier de prisonniers dans les cellules et les dortoirs.
