Lear est un opéra en deux parties d'Aribert Reimann sur un livret de Claus Henneberg, d'après le drame Le Roi Lear de William Shakespeare. Il est créé au Hof- und NationalTheater à Munich le 9 juillet 1978 avec Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Julia Varady, Helga Dernesch, sous la direction de Gerd Albrecht.

En Écosse au Moyen Âge, Le Roi Lear las de régner, partage son royaume entre ses trois filles, Goneril, Cordelia et Regan.
