Honoré Tournely

Honoré Tournely (1658-1729) fut un théologien français.

Né à Antibes, il fut reçu docteur de la faculté de théologie de Paris en 1686. Il obtint en mai 1688 la charge de professeur de théologie à l'université de Douai après la disgrâce de Gilbert. Il y enseigna les cas de conscience et reçut en même temps un canonicat à Tournai.

Fervent opposant des jansénistes, il fut souvent dénoncé comme l'auteur de la Fourberie de Douai[1]. Rappelé à Paris en 1692, il enseigna la théologie au collège de Navarre jusqu'en 1716.

Son traité de théologie Praelectiones Theologicae (1738-1740) a été regardé comme une des plus importantes sommes de l'époque. Il combattit le jansénisme dans ses cours et dans ses publications.

Il était abbé commendataire de l'abbaye de Magnac (1707), de l'abbaye de Plaimpied (1709) et chanoine de la sainte-Chapelle de Paris.
