Le Bayou Lafourche est un bayou du Sud-est de la Louisiane aux États-Unis qui se jette dans le Golfe du Mexique.
Histoire
Les Chitimachas sont la tribu amérindienne qui s'y établirent avant l'arrivée des colons français. À la fin du XVIIIe siècle, les premières colonies d’Acadiens s'instalèrent dans le Sud de la Louisiane[1] au Bayou Lafourche et au Bayou des Ecores. C'est eux qui donnèrent le nom actuel du Bayou en référence à la forme de fourche de cette voie d'eau, exutoire pour le Mississippi Un barrage à Donaldsonville en 1905 priva cette zone humide d’alimentation et remplissage. Ceci transforma le Bayou en une étendue d’eau stagnante. Un projet de réhabilitation du Bayou Lafourche prévoit de reconnecter celui-ci au Mississippi à Donaldsonville.

La culture Cadienne se développa dans la région.
Anecdote
Le film Sans retour (Southern Comfort) a pour cadre principal le Bayou Lafourche.
