Harry Randall Truman (né le 30 octobre 1896, mort le 18 mai 1980)[1] était le propriétaire de la Mount St. Helens Lodge, surtout connu pour avoir refusé à plusieurs reprises de quitter la région du Spirit Lake à côté du Mont Saint Helens lors de l'éruption du mont Saint Helens en 1980 ce qui attirait l'admiration ou le manque de compréhension de certains. Il est né le 30 octobre 1896 à Ivydale en Virginie-Occidentale et ainsi mort le 18 mai 1980 sur la Mount St. Helens Lodge dans l'État de Washington. Avant la catastrophe naturelle, il avait participé à la Première Guerre mondiale et importait illégalement de l'alcool venant surtout du Canada aux États-Unis lors de la période de la Prohibition. Ses amis et sa famille le décrivaient comme un original et une tête dure. Son cadavre n'a jamais été trouvé et il était la plus connue des 57 victimes de la catastrophe naturelle. Certaines parties du Spirit Lake comme le Truman Trail ou Harry's Ridge ont été rébaptisées en son honneur et son histoire a fait partie de plusieurs films documentaires[2],[3].
