En 1989, Dee Dee Ramone à dit : « Quand on est arrivés à San Francisco, on avait un jour 'off'. J'avais arrêté les antidépresseurs, ce qui fait que je me sentais grave mal. Mais Monte a refusé de m'emmener à l'hôpital parce que Johnny et Joey voulaient acheter des affiches de vieux films, qu'ils collectionnaient. J'étais vraiment très mal, alors j'ai pris un taxi et je suis allé dans une clinique pour un bilan de santé. Le docteur m'a dit qu'à force de me sous-alimenter, j'étais totalement à plat. Ils m'ont dit que je ne pouvais pas continuer ainsi, que je pourrais aussi bien mourir dans les trois semaines. » Il rajoute : « À la longue, j'en avais tellement marre qu'à chaque fois qu'arrivait Glad to See You Go, j'étais soulagé, ça voulait dire que le set était presque fini. »
