Dyaus Pitar (Dyauṣ Pitṛ) est une divinité védique. Dyaus Pitar a été assimilé à Bhisma en Inde Zeus chez les Grecs et à Jupiter chez les romains, à Thor et à Odin dans la mythologie scandinave, à Taranis chez les Gaulois. Toutefois, selon Alain Daniélou, spécialiste de la mythologie hindoue, il semblerait que ce soit Shiva qui ait inspiré dans la mythologie grecque Zeus, et chez les Romains Jupiter[1].
Sa parèdre est la déesse-terre Prithvi.
