David Cox

David Cox (1924 Birmingham, Grande-Bretagne) est un statisticien anglais.

Carrière

Il étudia les mathématiques à l'université de Cambridge et obtint son PhD à l'Université de Leeds en 1949, où il fut guidé par Henry Daniels et Bernard Welch.

Il fut employé de 1944 à 1946 du Royal Aircraft Establishment, de 1946 à 1950 du Wool Industries Research Association à Leeds, et de 1950 à 1956, il travailla au laboratoire de statistiques à l'University of Cambridge.

De 1956 à 1966, il fut assistant puis professeur de statistiques au Birkbeck College, Londres.

De 1966 à 1988, il fut assistant puis professeur de statistiques au College Impérial de Londres.

En 1988, il devint directeur Nuffield College de Cambridge et membre du département de statistiques à l'université d'Oxford.

Il prit sa retraite en 1994.

Vie personnelle

En 1947, il épousa Joyce Drummond et eurent quatre enfants et deux petits-enfants
