Bostik, compagnie française du groupe Total, est un des leaders mondiaux de la fabrication des colles et adhésifs.
Histoire
La Boston Blacking Co. a été fondée en 1889 à Chelsea (Massachusetts)[1]. Son but originel était de fournir des colles pour le secteur de la chaussure. Après plusieurs rachats, la compagnie devient Bostik, puis est acquise par Black & Decker. Lors d'une restructuration, la compagnie Orkem (qui regroupait la chimie des Charbonnages de France) rachète Bostik en 1989[2] qui devient alors une entreprise française. En 1990, Orkem est éclaté et Total rachète ses activités de chimie de spécialités dont Bostik.
Total fusionne alors sa division colle avec Bostik qui devient filiale du groupe pétrolier. D'autres rachats suivront, dont Mydrin en 1998 (filiale colle du groupe anglais BTP)[3].
Lorsque Total absorbe Elf Aquitaine en 2000, cette dernière apporte sa propre branche colle et adhésifs : ATO Findley. Bostik regroupe toutes ces activités et devient Bostik Findley avant de retrouver son nom premier de Bostik.
