L'Association for Promoting the Discovery of the Interior Parts of Africa (couramment abrégé African Association), fondé à Londres le 9 juin 1788, était un organisme britannique dédié à l'exploration de l'Afrique de l'Ouest, avec pour but de découvrir l'origine et la source du fleuve Niger ainsi que l'emplacement de Tombouctou, la « cité de l'or » perdue. La formation de ce groupe marque le début de l'exploration européenne de l'Afrique[1].
