Wannabe est le premier single du groupe pop britannique les Spice Girls. Cette chanson est considérée comme leur titre le plus connu. Elle a été écrite par les Spice Girls, Richard Stannard et Matt Rowe et figure sur leur premier album Spice en 1996.
Le single sort en juillet 1996 au Royaume-Uni, et reste sept semaines en tête des ventes. En janvier 1997 la chanson sort aux États-Unis et atteint la première place au Billboard pour quatre semaines.
Wannabe est l'une des chansons les plus connues des années 1990. À la fin de 1996, elle avait atteint la première place des ventes dans 22 pays, 31 en mars 1997, avant de devenir le single le plus vendu de l'histoire de la musique pour un groupe féminin (6 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde).
Le clip vidéo a été tourné en un unique plan.
Zebrahead l'a repris façon punk. Geri Halliwell qui a continué une carrière solo continue de la chanter souvent en concert. Les films d'animation Chicken Little et Small Soldiers ont inclus la chanson.
