Until It Sleeps est la 4ème chanson de l'album Load de Metallica. Elle fut écrite par James Hetfield et Lars Ulrich.
La chanson a connu un succès à la radio et marqua à prédominance le départ de Metallica de leur précédent style thrash metal vers un domaine plus proche du rock traditionnel. La chanson fut également jouée avec l'accompagnement d'un orchestre dans S&M. Il fut le premier single n°1 au US Mainstream Rock charts, ainsi que leur première et seule chanson à heurter le haut de la page 10 du Billboard Hot 100, pour atteindre le 10ème rang.
Une première version demo de cette chanson fut intitulée "Fell on Black Days", parce qu'elle a rappelée aux membres de la bande la chanson du même nom de Soundgarden[1].
