Traffic est l'album du groupe de rock anglais éponyme Traffic, dont le style varie du rock psychédélique à l'acid jazz. C'est leur deuxième album, en octobre 1968. Il atteint la 9ème place des charts anglais le 26 octobre 1968, et la 17ème aux charts américains[1].

Historique

Après leur premier album Mr. Fantasy, Traffic travaille à un album plus conventionnel, peut-être avec moins de références à la drogue et aux influences psychédéliques. Avant l'enregistrement, ils décident de rétablir dans ses fonctions Dave Mason. Celui-ci avait quitté le groupe avant la sortie du premier album.

Chris Wood à la flûte est comparé à Ian Anderson de Jethro Tull, qui est souvent considéré comme le meilleur flûtiste de rock de tous les temps.[réf. nécessaire]

Après la sortie de Traffic, le groupe part en tournée aux États-Unis et Dave Mason est encore écarté du groupe. Au début de l'année 1969, Winwood annonce la dissolution du groupe. Winwood rejoint Blind Faith et les autres (avec Dave Mason) travaillent sur un projet, Wooden Frog. En 1970, Winwood se réunit avec Capaldi et Wood pour John Barleycorn Must Die.

Les pistes bonus sur la nouvelle version américaine remasterisée diffèrent de la réédition anglaise. Les bonus américains sont Withering Tree (stéréo), et des mixages mono des singles You Can All Join In et Feelin' Alright. La remasterisation de l'an 2000 est réalisée avec Jim Capaldi.
