Ce qui suit dévoile des moments clés de l’intrigue.

Burt Farlander et Verona De Tessant apprennent qu'ils vont devenir parents ! Mais ils détestent la ville de province où ils habitent et plus rien ne les retient car les parents de Burt déménagent...

Burt et Verona décident alors de rechercher de l'endroit idéal pour fonder leur famille.Ils rendent donc visite à leur famille et à quelques amis de longue date. Malgré certaines rencontres particulières, Burt et Verona vont réaliser qu'ils n'ont besoin que l'un de l'autre pour fonder leur foyer...

Autour du film

  • Le film a été tourné à Leesburg (Floride), Phoenix et Tucson (Arizona), Thomaston, Wilton, Woodbury (Connecticut).[1]
  • Toni Collette devait à l'origine avoir un rôle dans le film. En raison d'un conflit d'emploi du temps, elle fut remplacée par Maggie Gyllenhaal.[2]
  • C'est le premier film de Sam Mendes dans lequel Thomas Newman ne compose pas la bande originale.
  • Away We Go est le premier film hollywoodien à adopter des mesures écologiques pendant le tournage : tout à été fait pour réduires les emissions de CO². Les déchets ont été réduits de moitié, des poubelles diverses ont été utilisées pour recycler, les traiteurs ont utilisé des plats en céramique et lavés pour éviter les produits jetables, alors que les véhicules de tournage utilisaient un carburant biodiesel.[3]
