La famille Thoery est une des plus anciennes familles féodales, vraisemblablement issue d'un cadet de Lambert Tureio (v.1155-1200) La filiation est rigouresement établie depuis la première moitié du XIVe siècle.
Famille issue de l'ancien territoire burgonde, venue dans le Sud-Ouest pour la croisade contre les Albigeois.
