The Times of India (abréviation : TOI) est un des principaux journaux de l'Inde et le journal grand format anglophone ayant la plus grande circulation au monde. Il est publié à partir de huit villes indiennes, a une circulation de 2,14 millions de copies et un lectorat de 7,4 millions. Il est publié par Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, plus connue sous le nom de The Times Group, qui est une entreprise familiale aux mains de Indu et Vineet Jain.

Il a été fondé le 3 novembre 1838, sous le nom The Bombay Times and Journal of Commerce, pour les résidents britanniques de l'ouest de l'Inde. Son nom actuel a été adopté en 1861. Il fut conçu au départ comme un bi-hebdomadaire publié chaque mercredi et samedi. Il contenait des nouvelles d'Europe, d'Amérique et des Indes, et était régulièrement acheminé en Europe par vapeur. The Times of India est publié quotidiennement depuis 1850. Il était au début contrôlé par un éditeur britannique, Ivor S. Jehu, qui en abandonna les droits en 1950.

The Times of India est souvent l'objet de critiques parce qu'il omet systématiquement de citer ses sources au niveau national, mais pas ses sources étrangères.

Bennett, Coleman & Co Ldt, éditeur du Times of India, est le plus grand groupe de médias d'Inde et publie également The Economic Times, le Mumbai Mirror, le Navbharat Times et le Maharashtra Times. Il possède également plusieurs chaines télévisées, dont la chaine d'information continue en Anglais TIMES NOW.
