The Sports Network, plus connue sous l'acronyme TSN, est une chaîne de télévision sportive canadienne de langue anglaise appartenant à CTV Speciality Television Inc., un groupe mené par Bell Média (80%) et ESPN (20%). Lancée le 1er septembre 1984, cette chaîne diffuse plusieurs événements sportifs, dont des matchs de la Ligue nationale de hockey et de la Ligue canadienne de football. Son équivalent de langue française, le Réseau des sports, offre une programmation similaire.
Historique
Le 2 avril 1984, la brasserie Labatt se voit accordée par le CRTC le droit de lancer une chaîne de télévision nommée Action Canada Sports Network[1] le 1er septembre 1984. La chaîne devient une filiale de la société Labatt Communications.
En 1995, la brasserie Labatt est rachetée la brasserie belge Interbrew, depuis InBev. Le CRTC oblige la vente de Labatt Communications à un groupe d'investisseurs majoritairement canadien. Le groupe est formé de ESPN, Stephen Bronfman, la Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Reitmans, et des anciens directeurs, puis la société est renommée NetStar Communications[2].
