Satu Mare (en hongrois Szatmárnémeti ou plus fréquemment , en allemand Sathmar) est une ville de Transylvanie, Roumanie, chef-lieu du département homonyme.

Ville pluriethnique, Satu Mare inclut parmi ses 160 421 habitants, quelque 57,87% de Roumains, 39,34% de Magyars ainsi que 1,18% d'Allemands et à 0,96% de Tsiganes. En 1910, cette ville austro-hongroise de 45 000 habitants comptait 94.5% de magyarophones (dont la presque totalité de la communauté juive, alors nombreuse et souvent très religieuse).
