La Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK), que l'on peut traduire en français par « Société pour la propagation du savoir chrétien », est la plus ancienne organisation de missions anglicanes. Elle fut fondée en 1698 par le prêtre anglican Thomas Bray et un petit groupe d'amis[1]. Ses premiers dirigeants charismatiques furent Anton Wilhelm Boehm et Friedrich Michael Ziegenhagen. Aujourd'hui, on connait surtout le SPCK pour sa publication d'ouvrages sur le christianisme.
La société fut fondée dans le but d'encourager l'éducation chrétienne ainsi que la publication et la distribution d'ouvrages de la littérature chrétienne. La SPCK a toujours recherché les moyens les plus efficaces de transmission des principes fondamentaux de la foi chrétienne aussi bien en Grande-Bretagne qu'outre-mer.
Depuis 1839, sous le règne de Victoria, la société est placée sous le patronage du souverain britannique.
