Île Santa Cruz
L'île de Santa Cruz est la plus grande île dont le territoire est une propriété privée des États-Unis. L'île, située sur la côte de Californie et dans le comté de Santa Barbara, mesure 35 km de long et de 3 à 10 kilomètres de large. C'est l'une des îles septentrionales de l'archipel des îles de Californie, et la plus grande avec 245,42 km2 de superficie.
Une vallée centrale fend l'île le long de la faille de l'île de Santa Cruz, avec des roches volcaniques au nord et des plus vieilles roches sédimentaires au sud.
Les trois quart de Santa Cruz sont la propriété de The Nature Conservancy depuis 1987, quand il furent légués à ce groupe par leur ancien propriétaire Carey Stanton. Le reste appartenait à la famille Gherini mais fait maintenant partie du Channel Islands National Park.
