Real Time Streaming Protocol
RTSP est le Real Time Streaming Protocol ou protocole de streaming temps-réel développé par l'IETF et publié en 1998 en tant que RFC 2326.
RTSP est un protocole de communication destiné aux systèmes de streaming média qui permettent de contrôler un serveur de média à distance, offrant des fonctionnalités typiques d'un lecteur vidéo telles que « lecture » et « pause », et permettant un accès en fonction de la position temporelle.
Quelques serveurs RTSP utilisent le RTP comme protocole de transport pour les données vidéo/audio, mais de nombreux serveurs RTSP utilisent le RDT de RealNetworks pour cette tâche.
