Potamius, ou Pouange en français ou Pôtamio en portugais, fut évêque de Lisbonne au milieu du IVe siècle.
C'est le premier évêque lisboète dont l'existence fut prouvée.
Biographie
Espagnol de naissance, Potamius est censé, dès le début de sa carrière, avoir été un champion de la foi catholique.
Toutefois, il était un zélé arien, et l'on pense qu'il fut à l'origine du document connu dans l'histoire ecclésiastique comme le The second Sirmian Creed.
En 325, il fut invité au concile de Nicée, au cours duquel justement l'arianisme fut condamné. Il participa au concile de Rimini en 356.
C'est un saint chrétien.
